I am fairly new to holo sights, but am looking to purchase this new magnifier and an EXPS3-0. I have a question - why is it not better to put the eotech sight closer to your eye than the magnifier? One would not think magnifying the reticule would be a desired effect. Therefore, place the magnifier after the sight.

Why is that not done?

Great Product but I have been waiting about two years for it to be actually available. In checking with Eotech they only can say that they haven't been able to procure parts and that the product won't be available until it meets their expectations of quality.

The upper receiver looks like its Coyote Brown. CeraKote/GunKote/DuraCoat
http://www.houtsenterprises.net/dur_browns.html

The rails used look like the Defense AR15 Lite Rail 9.0. They could look brown due to white balance. See how even these rails have a slight brownish tone to them.

The rails are hard coat type 3 mil-spec anodized black.

Try googling "Brown Anodized M1913 Freefloat Rails" maybe.

Anyone have any idea what custom colors were used on the AR that the optics in this article are mounted on. Very cool combination!

Also, keep in mind, a 3X magnifier is not a whole lot of magnification. I recently took my rig out to the range and placed clays at varying ranges between 20 and 125 yards. Unless your using a bipod, or some other kind of support, your going to have one hell of a time trying to hit those clays. It's not impossible, but the 1MOA dot on a 4.5in target at 125 yards is a different story.

I own the EOTech 512.A65 and was considering buying the EOTech magnifier. I decided to go with the Vortex 3X magnifier which is half the price and does the same thing. My only gripe is the eye relief, but you'll notice eye relief can be an issue with the majority of optics especially variable zoom optics. The G23 lists 1.97 in. (50mm) of eye relief, the Vortex VMX3 has the exact same relief at 50 mm. The knobs for adjusting "windage" and "elevation" are gimmicks IMO. Using a magnifier does not change the point of aim/impact of the host optic. Set and forget unless you're making major changes your to host optic, in which case you already have a screwdriver or tool available. I like the EOTech magnifiers, and sure they match my host optics, but there has to a line in the sand which one wont cross for something as simple as a 3x magnifier.

I am awaiting my new Eotech as shown above, too excited and i have to tell you that with reviews like this it makes the choice of all optics out there so much easier. I've been asked why not ACOG, to me it's no different than a scope, no versatility at all where the Eotech offers close combat that is simple and a no brainer and for additional distant accuracy it gives you the magnifier, Amen for Eotech. Thank you for giving me the chance to read and add my comments
