Magpul: Pouches and Buttstocks and Upgrades, Oh My

Never to disappoint, Magpul has been releasing a steady steam of press releases and videos of new and upgraded products in the days leading up to SHOT Show. Late last year we reported on their first serious foray into the soft goods market and said we anticipated seeing more. Well, they’ve delivered.

We suppose you could call the brand new DAKA pouch a General Purpose pouch, as you can stuff all sorts of goodies into it (check out the video below). There are currently three different sizes of this zippered and environmentally resistant guy.

Here’s what they have to say about it:

The Magpul DAKA Pouch, designed to bring organization to the dusty, dirty, and muddy world we work and play in.

Made from polymer infused textiles that are welded on all seams and use a genuine YKK® water resistant zipper. The construction methods and materials used mean that these pouches are at home in hard use applications like tool storage or bulk storage of your reloaded ammunition as well as lighter duties like organizing your personal electronic accessories. Although these pouches are not 100% water proof (read submersible…) they will keep your items dry under most wet weather situations making them a great choice for most outdoor adventures.

Magpul has updated several stocks in their line as well. The UBR was likely one of their most popular premium buttstocks, so it just makes good sense to give her a makeover. Appropriately, they’re calling it the UBR 2.0

The UBR 2.0 is an adjustable stock for the AR15/M4, designed to offer the same strength and stability as a fixed stock with a consistent and comfortable cheek weld in any position.

An update of the revolutionary Utility/Battle Rifle (UBR) stock, the UBR 2.0 features a fixed cheek piece to provide a consistent cheek weld in any of its 8 positions, and is compatible with Carbine as well as A5-length buffer systems. Designed to accommodate large bore AR calibers and withstand severe impacts, the UBR 2.0 comes standard with front and rear QD sling attachment points, two footman’s loops, the ergonomic MOE SL™ angled-toe rubber butt-pad, and customizable storage compartment.

Similarly, they announced the third generation of the PRS stock, the MOE SL-S (storage) stock, and a new long-action version of their Hunter Remington 700 stock.

What is the NSSF SHOT Show?

The NSSF SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show) and Conference is an annual event held by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Typically attended by thousands of people from all 50 states and over a hundred countries, it is (quite rightfully) described as the “…world’s premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, and related products and services.
Imagine the Worlds’ Fair, but packed with everything from mini-guns and every breed of body armor, bows and boots; from eye pro and ear pro to optics and ordnance, socks to swords…you get the idea. If you’d like to see a sampling of the companies who will be showing at this year’s SHOT, there’s a live map right here, though it doesn’t reflect the organizations set up elsewhere, in hotel suites, etc
