Novagrade Phone Adapter for Spotting Scopes

Triggrcon 2018 had a number of exciting products on display. One that captured the attention of a number of attendees was the Novagrade Phone Adapter. With the growing community of long range shooters, there has been a demand for a well-built adapter to attach a phone to a scope in order to record shots on target.

Enter the Novagrade Phone Adapter which comes in two variants, a single gripper or a double gripper (double gripper pictured). The phone adapter utilizes a compression ring to attach to the eyepiece of your spotting scope or binoculars. Adjustment to fit a phone requires a simple twist of the knob and moving the spring loaded grippers along two axes. One direction moves the grippers in order to accommodate your phone while avoiding its controls and the other to align the camera lens with the aperture.

After a simple twist of the third contact point, the phone is firmly secured in the adapter and ready to record. Novagrade suggested that users take the side of their phone to push open the grippers when inserting or removing the phone to ease the process. It was also stated that by adding a small amount of digital zoom, the vignetting of the image would be eliminated.

Mounting a phone to the spotting scope is pretty useful. Solo shooters are able to record their shots and play them back to see where the rounds are impacting while sighting in. Spotters or those watching no longer need their face buried in the glass to see where the shooter is hitting. Not to mention some pretty good Instagram videos. The Novagrade retails for $169 and is available on their website.
