The Core Values of BDS Tactical's Mike Bornfriend
Mike Bornfriend knows all about bonds. The former Marine understands firsthand the sacrifice, dedication, and teamwork required to complete a mission, whether as a soldier on the battlefield, or as a civilian in the world of business. Just as every other Marine has, Bornfriend has carried forward this profound faith in himself, in his fellow soldiers, and in his country, at all times. As the president of BDS Tactical, it motivates him to keep his brothers overseas safe by manufacturing quality gear that won’t fail when their lives may ultimately depend on it.

“When you do what I do, it is absolutely essential to remain connected to the fundamentals and functions of those in the field,” Bornfriend said to RECOIL recently. “I constantly seek the opinions of active-duty personnel in developing my products; I have to. When someone’s life is on the line, there is no margin for error.”

Thanks to his own field of experience and intensely dedicated approach not only as a soldier, but as a police officer, Oceanside, California-based BDS Tactical has made a name for itself in the niche industry of military-spec tactical gear. “Survival in the field is certainly different than survival in the business world, but I have been diligent enough to achieve both,” the decorated veteran said with a smile. While he has flourished under difficult circumstances in both environments, it hasn’t always been easy, and Bornfriend’s military training and devotion to others won’t allow him to lose focus of what BDS is all about.

From Marine reconnaissance to civilian policing to running a business, Bornfriend reveals the tactics he used to battle his way to success while still being in the service of his country, applying the same core values of honor, courage, commitment, and leadership he acquired as a Marine the entire way. Why? Because Dying Sucks. And it doesn’t have to come just yet.
