Kawasaki Releases All New MULE PRO-FXT

Kawasaki released an all-new Mule UTV for the 2015 model year. The new flagship model is called the MULE PRO-FXT and it maintains the Mule’s heritage of quality and durability, while incorporating new technology as well as advancements in design to propel the Mule lineup back to the top of the UTV (Utility Terrain Vehicles) pile.

In order to get first-hand experience behind the wheel of the PRO-FXT, in surrounding that would showcase its abilities in the sort of environment it is intended for, we traveled to Paso Robles in Central California. The location was chosen because it is one of the states’ best wine making areas.

The Mule fits right into this work environment, with its class-leading 1000 lb. carrying capacity, 2000 lb. towing capacity, ingenious Trans Cab 3-6 passenger seating arrangement, and new engine that is perfectly mated to advanced suspension and selectable AWD transmission.

The ingenious Trans Cab makes hauling additional cargo or hauling additional passengers as simple as one trip around the vehicle. Riders can convert the seating arrangement from 3 to 6 passengers, or vice versa, in a matter of seconds, depending on what activities you are planning at any time. In six-passenger mode, the bed space is reduced but you can carry more people, and there’s still enough bed space for tools, gear, clothes, and whatever else you need. Quickly converting to three-passenger mode, the bed space is sufficient to haul a full-size pallet. Now that’s useful!

The winery we attended happened to be one of the largest and most popular in the area, known as Ancient Peaks winery. Along with their vineyards, Ancient Peaks also hosts Margarita Adventures on the property for adventure-seekers who can enjoy both great wine testing as well as a tantalizing zip line tour of the property – a combination that’s sure to satisfy the adventurous side of wine-tasters.

We were able to enjoy the day behind the wheel on the vast property aboard the MULE PRO-FXT, and it excelled in every part of the tour. From it’s new independent suspension, which soaked up anything we threw at it, to its torque-rich engine and thoughtfully designed interior, which featured useful USB ports, ample leg room and storage space for all passengers. In fact, the MULE PRO-FXT fits the bill for a wide variety of different uses, whether you use an UTV in a work environment like this, or for an adventure on trails in the backwoods.

Kawasaki was also quick to note that the “Camo” model of the PRO-FXT serves as the ideal hunting machine. You can still take up to 6 people with you on these excursions and you can haul your catch back with you, all in one, easy-to-drive and reliable vehicle.

To complete our tour, Kawasaki took us to the J Dusi winery in the heart of Paso Robles for some down-home cooking at one of the most family-friendly and picturesque wineries in the region. Dinner was topped off with another wine-tasting session to complete our adventure with that perfect cherry. We should obviously point out that all winetasting took place at the end of each day to ensure there was no drinking and driving!
