These pistols combine value with enhanced features to deliver top-grade performance in a reliable option for home and personal protection. At the foundation of each SD VE pistol is a lightweight polymer frame, designed to excel in the areas of comfort and durability. The silver colored stainless steel slide provides a distinctive two-tone look and features front and rear slide serrations for improved firearm handling. Among the key features found on the Smith & Wesson SD9 VE and SD40 VE is the Self Defense Trigger (SDT™). Providing a smooth, consistent trigger pull, the SDT design helps to enhance accuracy while providing users with increased confidence. Sights for the DE VE are standard white-dot front and a white two-dot rear. For optimal comfort and control, the SD VE pistol has been fitted with an 18° natural point of aim, ergonomic grip with aggressive front and back strap texturing. The Smith & Wesson SD9 VE and SD40 VE have both been built with a textured finger locator, which is placed directly above the trigger guard on the left and right side of the frame. Underneath the barrel, a universal Picatinny-style equipment rail is standard for optional tactical lights, lasers and other popular accessories. The SD9 VE is available with either a 16+1 or 10+1 round capacity while the SD40 VE is standard with either a 14+1 or 10+1 magazine capacity. Both pistols have an unloaded weight of 22.7 ounces and a slender width of 1.29 inches. I have the SD9VE and I love this pistol. I have large hands and it fits perfectly as well as my wife's tiny hands. Never had a miss feed or any problems with firing this pistol. For personal use this is a perfect handgun.
felt many glocks today...they felt like toy guns and pieces of crap if u ask me compared to sd40ve or any other s & W
The trigger is for home defense . so its a little long and is about 8lbs. I bought this gun for $ 285 at cabelas, and i installed a trigger kit for 20 $ reduced to 5.5lbs and is very nice. I think its funny how people buy stuff without any research, then hate it and say things like" im going back to Glock" its your loss. this is a great economical gun.
i purchased new for $299. It is a great gun. No problems at all. it does anything a Glock does. i can purchase 2 S&W SD VE (9mm & 40) for $100 more than the price of a new Glock
I love everything about my SD 40 VE except the magazines. One of mine is causing feeding problems already.
I bought one of the SD40 VE's before the "new ban" hysteria hit for $299. That's the only good thing I have to say about it. The trigger is almost as bad as the original Sigma's. The sights are regulated 12" too low at 50'. I broke the slide release spring in half trying to get the firing block to stay in place while reinstalling the trigger pin. It sprays Winchester 165's and 180's all over the left side of a standard B 57 profile target, so I have no testimony as to accuracy potential. If you are defending yourself with one of these POS when someone comes after you, you'll be better off just throwing it at him. It is no doubt the worst S&W I have ever owned. I can't believe they put their logo on it.
the sd40ve seems to have a failure to feed issue, I've had mine for two months and i have decided to sell it and go back to using my block!
what is a block? Did yall buy your sd4ove new? I did, ive shot the piss out of it and have had no problems. All my friends have glock 40 23 and 17, and theirs jams before mine will. I'd much rather spend two hundred less and stick with my S&W
