New: SureFire Backup MaxVision and Aviator

A couple brilliant new thingamawhatsits have emerged from Fountain Valley, CA over the last few days – both of them flashlights, both of them from SureFire. The newest version of their Backup (properly the E1B-MV Backup) throws anywhere from 5 to 400 lumens  on command, and is small enough to keep in a small pocket or even on the ball of a cap. The updated Aviator, for its part, is also a compact EDC light with four color options that don't require a filter — red, blue, amber, and yell0w-green.

Industry News: SureFire Backup MaxVision and Aviator

SureFire, LLC, manufacturer of the world’s finest—and most innovative—illumination tools and tactical products, is proud to announce the launch of the new E1B-MV. The sleek, compact E1B-MV backup is an outstanding everyday-carry light for most any application. Its virtually indestructible LED delivers 400 lumens of blinding light on high and five lumens of useful light at its low setting. The MaxVision reflector produces a wide, smooth beam optimized to your field of view.

Its hard-anodized aluminum body features smooth styling and a two-way pocket clip that allows the light to be carried bezel up, bezel down, and even attached to the bill of a baseball cap for use as a headlamp. Its tailcap switch features SureFire’s patented lockout feature and is programmed to deliver high output on the first press or click.

[SureFire LLC is also proud to announce] the launch of the all new Aviator. This SureFire classic—originally developed for pilots—has been reinvented to feature a dual-output white primary LED and secondary colored LED in one sealed head, both focused by a TIR lens into a user-friendly beam with ample reach and surround light. The Aviator can be easily switched from white light to colored light, even on the fly, with a simple pull and twist of its self-locking bezel selector switch—no filters required, which can break or accidentally open at inopportune times. The rugged, ultra-compact Aviator is available with secondary LEDs in one of four useful colors: red, blue, amber, and yellow-green. All of these colors help preserve night-adapted vision and prevent eye fatigue as well as, depending on the color, cut through fog, help locate blood trails or hydraulic fluid leaks, improve contrast, or even integrate well with night vision devices
