The statement released by FedEx in response to the outcry on social media by a small, but vocal group of people attacking any company that works with the NRA or has a pro-2A stance has ruffled some feathers. One of the more noticeable outcomes of the statement is that ATEi is boycotting FedEx as a result of their press release.
I can't say that I blame them.
Am I surprised that ATEi will be refusing all packages sent VIA FedEx? Not after meeting Doug and Nina and getting to know them a bit during the mad rush to complete my Glock 19X Roland build in the two weeks prior to SHOT Show 2018. They are both outspoken and regularly will stand up to do what they feel is the right thing to do. Making their voice heard in a time that many feel only the crowd that is calling for gun control is being listened to is exactly what I would expect ATEi to do, and I applaud that they have chosen to stand by what they believe in even though it will cost them money.
With the current debate raging over gun control and companies supporting the NRA dropping like flies, I would hope that more players in our industry would stand up and make their position known. Some might view the refusal to use FedEx's services as a marketing stunt, but I am reasonably sure that marketing is the last thing on Doug Holloway's mind, instead, I suspect he is focused on being as vocal as possible about his belief in the second amendment.
In addition to refusing to accept all packages sent by FedEx, ATEi has also stated that they will no longer be shipping anything back to shops or consumers using FedEx. What happens if a customer's package is refused by ATEi? They have made the commitment that ATEi will provide a UPS call tag at no charge to any customer that has their package refused, all the customer needs to do is give ATEi a call and they will square them away.
Do you think that more influencers, manufacturers, and companies that make their payroll off of firearms should take dramatic steps like ATEi has?
