I stumbled across BRC's (Battle Rifle Company) hex pattern rail while flipping through Instagram and it caught my eye because I was in the process of building of a Cross Machine & Tool hex billet AR. After doing some digging, I discovered this Houston, Texas company actually makes some pretty cool looking rifles in not-so-often-seen configurations.
The BR4 Paratrooper is comes standard with a 14.5″ cryogenically treated barrel hiding under a 12.5″ BRC HEXRail. Rounding the rifle off is a collapsible wire stock. 5.56mm is standard with optional for 300 AAC Blackout or 6.8 SPC.
BRC advertises sub-MOA on all of their BR4 rifles which we have not tested or confirmed. This rifle has some nice benefits and features with an MSRP of $1695. Optional accessories shown are the Burris AR-332 3x prism optic and fastfire reddot.
The collapsible stock extends without the need to push any buttons and collapses using a standard AR magazine release button located on the left side.
The HEXRail uses the same mounting setup as ODINWorks and aides in the rifles overall weight, which comes in at 6lbs, 5ounces. The trigger is mainly milspec and broke right at 7lbs, a little more than the 4-6 pounds advertised. Overall the rifle fit and finish are great. There is a slight amount of upper and lower play, but nothing I would worry about.
