Cadex Defense CDX-TAC Patriot Lite | SHOT 2019

Weather can make or break any range day, but when it is the Industry Day at the Range, a blown range day can mean missing the chance to put hands on drool-worthy rifles like the Cadex Defense CDX-TAC Patriot Lite. Cadex is probably best known for their Kraken multi-caliber rifle, based on the examples shown at Range Day; the quality absolutely carries over to the more traditional rifles in their lineup.

When we got over to the Cadex lane, winds had started to increase to about 25 miles an hour sustained with gusts approaching 50 miles an hour. Obviously, this is the best time to shoot past 1,000 yards, right? Thankfully Cadex Defense had some outstanding spotters on hand, and we were landing hit after hit at beyond 1,000 without much issue.

The Cadex Patriot Lite chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum seemed to garner most of the attention. Attendees were easily making their hits on an 18-inch wide plate on the 1,000-yard line with minimal coaching.

The Cadex Defense Chassis System used on the CDX-TAC line of rifles boasts some interesting features like a fully adjustable stock that requires no tools to make any needed adjustments, a V-shaped bedding system, and what Cadex calls a mirage control tube that most of us would assume is just a handguard.

The heavy barrel mated to the Cadex action is nicely fluted in an effort to reduce as much weight where it can be without sacrificing barrel rigidity.

If the .338 Lapua Mag isn't your jam, Cadex has a ton of options that might fit your needs. The table below should guide you through what might be ideal.

The CDX-3X series of rifles start at $5,342.95 and go up from there depending on options and caliber. Find more information about the CDX-3X rifle line on the Cadex website.
