Looking for a presidential candidate you can get behind?
We’ve been following the POTUS election campaign of Freddy the dog and his biped (Mike Rowe) since it was first announced last November, in our article “Mike Rowe and His Dog Run for President.” That campaign (certainly the most honest one in this election year) has a new shirt available (pictured below). You can get on here at this link.
“Lincoln may have made the phrase famous, but Freddy and his biped Mike Rowe want to give a gentle reminder that houses divided against themselves – doghouses included – cannot stand.
Regardless of the house you vote for this November, why not pick the house of good deeds and support the MikeRowe WORKS Foundation; it may certainly do more good in the long run.”
If you've forgotten why Rowe's dog originally decided to run for president, here’s an excerpt from our first article.
Rowe explains he and Freddy's reasoning:
“Over the last 12 months, according to people who know, my modest little Facebook page has received over 500,000 comments urging me to run for President of the United States. Clearly, the time has come to consider these invitations with a measure of seriousness. And so today, after nearly thirty seconds of careful soul-searching, I’m pleased to officially announce my decision to run for the highest office in the land. And that decision is of course, no.
Naturally, I’m flattered – deeply. But aside from my conspicuous lack of experience, (I can barely keep a TV show on the air,) I’m afraid I lack the temperament for elected office. My dog on the other hand, is not only more suited for the role, he is, according to the most recent polls – more popular than his master, and therefore, far more electable. So, I would be willing – under Freddy’s leadership and guidance – to serve as his Vice President, and in that regard, your humble servant.”
We wanted to give you an update and another chance to support this campaign, should you desire to do so. All proceeds will benefit the mikeroweWORKS Foundation.
About the foundation in their own words.
The mikeroweWORKS Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that rewards people with a passion to get trained for skilled jobs that actually exist. As CEO of the Foundation, Mike Rowe spends a significant amount of time speaking about the country’s dysfunctional relationship with work, highlighting the widening skills gap, and challenging the persistent belief that a four-year degree is automatically the best path for the most people.
Through its scholarship programs, including the Work Ethic Scholarship Program, the Foundation provides financial assistance to qualified individuals with a desire to learn a skill that is in demand. The Foundation has been instrumental in granting more than $3 million in education for trade schools across the country.
You can find out more about Mike Rowe from his webpage and his Facebook or Twitter accounts. You can also subscribe to his podcasts here.
