Happening Now: Safari Club International Annual Convention

This year we're covering Safari Club International's 47^th Annual Convention. We haven’t been here before, but so far we’re impressed. The convention is being held at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nevada until Saturday.

The show is akin to other industry shows, but the vibe and intentions are notability different. Some may think this is just a show for old rich guys who go hunting in Africa, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. The SCI Annual Convention is a place for hunters to check out new gear, plan hunts, and better understand conservation efforts of SCI.

This year, the convention is hosting approximately 1,100 exhibitors. If there’s a specific company you want us to check out, let us know. A link to the exhibitor page is HERE. Over the next few days, we'll share with you cool stuff we find at the convention.

Monies raised by SCI go towards conservation, humanitarian efforts, and lobbying initiatives on behalf of wildlife and hunters. That brushes the surface of what SCI does. SCI’s reach is global, and chapters raise “more than $5 million per year through local fundraising banquets and events. The money is spent on numerous chapter-directed projects focused on the fight to save hunting, education or conservation.”
