Hardpoint Equipment: The Orion Battle Belt

There are several pieces of good RUMINT coming out Hardpoint Tactical these days. The first is that Thomas, the mind behind the gear designs at Hardpoint, is no longer spending all of his time overseas in dangerous places and thus has more time to devote to the design and manufacture of further Hardpoint Equipment pieces. The second is that after months of painstaking foundation laying, Hardpoint has sufficient inventory on hand to really begin pushing sales. The last is the fact that Hardpoint Tactical is being so well received ‘on the sharp end' that they're hiring sales and marketing staff.

If you're not familiar with Hardpoint, the company is well worth a look. Theirs are truly innovative designs, well constructed and supremely thought out – as you will see if you watch the entire video series on the Orion Battle Belt (see below).

The OBB system (formerly the Cingulum) is built from the ground up to be fully interactive with and supportive of armor, including a contoured build and the utilization of the Atlas Support Strip System (one of the finalists in the weight redistribution selection process two years back). This is done without impacting the comfort or ergonomics of the belt itself – the Orion is an excellent belt to wear solo. However if you must don and carry armor or heavy upper body equipment, the Orion is engineered to transfer the majority of that weight to your hips while keeping the load and belt moving independently of one another to maintain mobility.

The Orion is well padded by virtue of a removable mounting pad that opens from the top or bottom and locks onto the HE hook-and-loop lined inner belt (which like the Orion can be worn independently of any other kit). It accepts 2″ belt accessories as well as PALS modular accessories outside the exterior and secures with a Raptor buckle. It is currently available in Coyote, Ranger Green, MC and Black, though the latter must be special ordered). The Hardpoint Equipment Orion Battle Belt system is made in the USA and retails for $125.00.
