HSGI’s new ‘SureGrip’ padded sling

A new sling on the market may not be the most compelling news you'll hear today – there are a lot of slings out there, many of them very well designed and manufactured. I don't categorize this as ‘just another new sling release' though, nor even as another padded sling release. That's because HSGI has incorporated features from their SureGrip® padded belt into the sling, and I love my SureGrip ‘Battle Belt'.

The new sling, seen here using Impact Weapon Components hardware, will be a 2-to-1 point convertible sling, meaning it can be attached to the rifle at 2 points or 1, and it will be quickly adjustable for length to accommodate changes in how the weapon is carried, movement, gear or snivel kit worn, etc.  The SureGrip® feature can be fixed to the sling or left “open” so the sling can slide, depending on how you prefer to wear it. Either way, the good news is now you won't need to pop your collar and look like a hipster to protect your neck (assuming that was a problem for you). William, HSGI's Business Development Director, advises they have yet to determine the sling's final configuration. He says development is 90% complete, they're just awaiting input from the SWAT officers at this week's NTOA Conference.

Says William,

“We designed the SureGrip sling because so many people asked if we had our own. Right now we're undecided on the exact final configuration, so I can't give you complete specs yet. It's built so you can use whatever you want. HK hooks or QD, attachment points from other manufacturers.  The sling market is congested, I recognize that. Many people already have a favorite sling or a favorite method of attaching it. That's why we're also building retrofit kits for other manufacturers' slings. I'll let you know who those are for once I've talked to them off line.”

I tried to get it out of him, but he wouldn't advise which other slings will be the focus of a retrofit kit in the future. Hopefully it will include the VTACs and BFG-Vickers, since those are the two I currently use.

Oh, and more on this American Defense Manufacturing rifle soon.

Now, what works for a belt may not work for a sling, that's a given. I've got high hopes though. I've yet to be disappointed by anything from HSGI.

Read a review of the HSGI SureGrip padded belt by Freddy Osuna of Greenside Training right here.

As you can see below, neither the sling nor the retrofit kit is available yet. Phebus advises they should be on the website in less than a month.
