Ken Trio, an electrical engineer with 30 years of experience, founded a small company called K-TOR based on the idea that all bio-mechanical energy can be converted to electrical energy for use (and made available to people world wide). Now he (and K-TOR) manufactures a line patented ‘human-powered- generators’ – all designed and built right here in America.
The smallest of the generators, the Pocket Socket 2, weighs less than a pound and is about the size of a water bottle. This hand crank charger generates 10W of power and can be used ambidextrously (it can be cranked clockwise or counter clockwise). The Pocket Socket 2 is priced at $64.95.
The larger generator produces 20W of power, is the Power Box. Although it is a pedal generator, operated similar to pedaling a bike, the device still weighs under 5 pounds and can fold up to the size of a shoe box. With the amount of power this generator provides multiple devices can be charged at once. This product is priced at $195.
