M-LOK Handguards Inbound From Aero, Geissele, MI and SLR

Last month, Magpul unveiled the M-LOK accessory mounting system, designed to allow items to be attached directly to a handguard. Magpul released M-LOK as a freely-licensed standard, meaning that the complete specs are available to any participating manufacturer at no cost, in order to encourage wide adoption.  If that doesn't sound familiar, it should — the KeyMod direct attachment system, anyone? Magpul's M-LOK system is an evolution of the slot system it introduced with its MOE polymer furniture. In particular, Magpul notes that M-LOK was designed to work better with polymers and be cheaper to manufacture than KeyMod.

Several companies have already announced new M-LOK handguards, including Aero Precision, Geissele Automatics, Midwest Industries Inc., and SLR Rifleworks. SLR's handguards are now available and ready to order.

Aero Precision's M-LOK handguard is designed to attach directly to its own M4E1 upper receiver and is not compatible with standard uppers. It will be available in 12-inch and 15-inch lengths, with various color choices (anodized black or Cerakoted desert, olive, titanium, tungsten, or burnt bronze). Pricing is expected to range from $175 to $230.

Geissele Automatics will be introducing the Mk 8 version of their popular and bulletproof Super Modular Rail handguard. More details will be forthcoming.

The M-LOK handguards from Midwest Industries will be initially available in 12-inch and 15-inch lengths in two different variants. The standard version has a full-length top rail while the lightweight version has short rails at the front and rear with M-LOK slots in between, making them as light as possible (8.1 ounces including the barrel nut for the 12-inch version).  The handguards will also feature five anti-rotational QD sling swivel sockets and use the same barrel nut as their SSG2 line.

SLR Rifleworks offers a variety of M-LOK handguards, from 7-inch to 16-inch in its Intrepid, Solo Lite, and Solo 3-Gun series. The Solo 3-Gun handguard is completely slick except for a short front top rail, the Solo Lite has a full length top rail, and the Intrepid adds short front side rails with QD sockets. Pricing ranges from $185 to $230, and are now in-stock and available for sale. If you're reading this on Memorial Day and want one, don't delay as SLR is offering 10% off handguards today only.
