SHOT16: New Railscales Textures

You will be seeing some new Railscales textures (@railscales) this week, both during Media Day at the Range and on display in more than one booth on the SHOT Show floor. The new Railscales have been redesigned to be both lighter and more sleek (not that they were anything but sleek and close in tight to the bore before) — a not inconsiderable 33% thinner, to the tune of 0.125in.

Railscales is clearly not about the girth.

There will be an updated Honeycomb texture as well as a new Dragon and Tenderizer style. They'll be offering 4- and 6-hole options where previously there were only 3- and 5-, and they'll be introducing a polymer version as well. Interestingly, they initially thought the polymer RS panels might be slightly less effective than the G10 models, but initial tests seem to indicate they'll be just as effective or even better. More testing is required.

“I”m gonna try to melt 'em on a machine gun,” RS told us. We're looking forward to the imagery and video from when they do.

What is the NSSF SHOT Show?

The NSSF SHOT Show (Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show) and Conference is an annual event held by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. Typically attended by thousands of people from all 50 states and over a hundred countries, it is (quite rightfully) described as the “…world's premier exposition of combined firearms, ammunition, law enforcement, cutlery, outdoor apparel, optics, and related products and services.

Imagine the Worlds' Fair, but packed with everything from mini-guns and every breed of body armor, bows and boots; from eye pro and ear pro to optics and ordnance, socks to swords…you get the idea. If you'd like to see a sampling of the companies who will be showing at this year's SHOT, there's a live map right here, though it doesn't reflect the organizations set up elsewhere, in hotel suites, etc.
