New RRS Competition and Hunting Tripods at SHOT Show 2020

Really Right Stuff's SOAR division has seven new products coming for 2020, including three new tripods. One of those tripods was purpose-built with PRS and other competitive shooters in mind, while the other is a lightweight tripod aimed at hunters.

The most important feature of the new competition tripod is the inverted twist locks. Because the twist locks are at the top, this makes extending the tripod easy, requiring only one hand. It's much easier and faster to deploy on the clock, as is often required in competition. This tripod can get very high and very low while maintaining optimal rigidity. After some design tweaks, RRS was able to get this tripod's price down to around $920.

For hunters, RRS has created the Ascend tripod. This ultra-light and ultra-versatile tripod seems to be able to do it all. The Ascend-14 has a brand new center column that can be modular, capable of supporting any ball head. This tripod has a weigh of 3.2 pounds, diameter of 3.4 inches, a max height of 59.5 inches, and the folded length is 18.6 inches. The Ascend-14 will retail between $1,600 and $1,800.  The Ascend-14 is not yet available for purchase.
