Outta The Closet: CRKT Gives You a Chanceinhell

Published by

When you think of a machete, chances are you think of the traditional, wooden handled, straight, no-nonsense jungle tool. CRKT has updated that traditional design with the help of award wining blade master Ken Onion and has reinvented the notion a workhorse slasher.
Removed from its nylon sheath, the Chanceinhell™ is astoundingly comfortable to hold, with noticeable weight in the black powder coated 65Mn carbon steel blade. The grip is slightly overmolded injection polymer and rubberized which allows for a little bit more shock absorption when cutting through brush. It is also slightly curved helping with user ergonomics. The overall length is 17.88” with an overall weight of 20 ounces.
Out of the box, the blade was extremely sharp and we haven’t had to resharpen it yet. With lanyard holes on the handle, and multiple mounting configurations on the sheath, you can be sure to strap this essential survival tool anywhere you want.
We tested the machete through varying thicknesses of brush, from small branches and saplings to overgrowth, and the Chanceinhell™ performed exactly as we would like, leaving everything we cut at our feet. It's no replacement for a tomahawk or small axe, so bear that in mind.
With a street price of under $75, it is an extremely affordable way to add a large blade to your backpack. We couldn’t get over just how comfortable and balanced this machete felt and we’re looking forward to including it in our arsenal of hiking gear.
