When it comes to shooting pistols, speed and precision are the ultimate goals for any accomplished shooter. Whether on the range, in military or LE scenarios, or even in competition shooting, quick, precise shots are required for success. Shooters can enhance their range time and test their abilities by running drills that put them under time constraints or in awkward positions.  Shooting drills are designed to help us keep our skills and fundamentals sharp so that when we need to apply them, even in sudden or uncomfortable situations, we can do so effectively.

In this installment of RECOILtv's Training Tuneups, we join Bill Blowers of Tap Rack Tactical as he takes us through the 10 Yard, 10 Rounds drill. A drill designed with speed and precision at its heart, the most challenging aspects of this drill are to see how high you can score and to do it within 10 seconds. Drilling the concepts of trigger manipulation, recoil recovery, and accurate shot placement, this simple yet demanding drill will certainly help you hone your close-range shooting skills.

In order to perform the drill, place a B-8 pistol target 10 yards away and set your timer for 10 seconds. When the timer goes off, draw your pistol and fire 10 shots at the center of the target as quickly as possible. The two main goals of this drill are to score as many points as possible and to do so as quickly as possible.
