RMS-C: The New Slimline MRDS from Shield Sights

U.K sightmaker Shield Sights is releasing a hangover cure for slimline, subcompact pistols. We're not talking about a handful of aspirin and a gallon of water, but a compact version of the RMS mini red dot sight called the RMS-C. It's designed to fit the latest batch of defensive pistols, such as the Glock 43 and Smith & Wesson Shield. The narrower MRDS is also the perfect width for a 1911 slide.

The RMS-C's footprint and bolt pattern are the same as its big brother's, so users of the larger sight can swap it out for the slimmer sight with nothing more than a 2mm hex wrench and a reapplication of threadlock. And we suggest going easy on the threadlocker since, sadly, you're going to have to remove the screws to change the battery, unlike the wider RMS. Such is the price of miniaturization. We've got both versions on the bench and confirm they fit in the slide melt cut on a Grey Ghost Precision G43 slide.

If you aren't brave enough to have a slide cut to fit an MRDS, Shield has you covered with adapter plates to fit Glock MOS slides and Smith & Wesson M&P slides.

We've got the RMS-C in the queue for a deeper look, and we'll also be on the lookout for another new version of the RMS MRDS, a highly water resistant RMS called the RMS-W.
