Vertx is a company that started out of the necessity for functional, low visual profile tactical clothing and gear. As the demands and operational requirements for the professionals that use their gear have changed, so have their designs. Unlike many companies that find a comfortable place within their niche and stay there, Vertx is ever evolving with the constant input of law enforcement and military personnel.
This year is no different.
Vertx has a long list of new or improved products lining their walls at SHOT Show. Among those products are four new concealed-carry packs.
The Tourist Sling is a small sling pack (10” H x 12.5” W x 5” D) that can be carried as a messenger bag but rapidly relocated to the front of the body when weapon access is required. A yank of the rapid access pull tab drops the front flap open to cover a majority of the upper torso, which not only gives the shooter access to their weapon but also provides ballistic protection to vital organs when paired with the customized, lightweight ballistic panels offered by Premier Body Armor.
The Last Call Pack is a mid-size backpack (19.5” H x 11.5” W x 5.5” D) with a ballistic-panel-compatible, rapid access concealed carry platform. The pack features a convertible front fold-over flap that can be tucked behind the loop-faced MOLLE webbing panel for easy access to mounted gear, or to change the appearance of the pack when trying to blend in with the environment. Additional features such as side stretch water-bottle pockets, laptop sleeve, mesh pocket, and gear slots also adorn the pack.
The Dead Letter Sling is mid-size sling pack (19” H x 13.5” W x 5” D) that can be carried in a variety of configurations. The ambidextrous with subtle color-coded stitching allows the pack to be set up for right or left-handed cross-sling positions. An adjustable waist belt provides proper weight distribution for long hauls, and can be tucked inside when not in use. The concealed carry compartment has two retention G-hooks to keep the flap from opening all the way, allowing the user to maintain a tight working space within the compartment.
The Gamut Checkpoint Pack is a large backpack (23” H x 11” W x 8” D) which features a main-compartment modular padded laptop sleeve that adjusts in size and position, and can be adapted to become a print-proof protective scabbard for weapons and sensitive gear. Like all Vertx packs, it also features a ballistic-panel-compatible concealed-carry platform.
Of course, we’ve only scratched the surface of what these packs have to offer in terms of features and functionality. Look for these packs to hit the market soon.
