Our friends at 5.11 Tactical launched a new line of products this year at the 2020 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, this week: Vehicle Ready.
This line is dedicated to one of the areas where most of us spend most of our time outside from work or home: in our vehicles and like most of 5.11 Tactical's products, they are designed to make our lives safer and easier.
At SHOT Show they showed us the two basic components, the VR Headrest and the VR Hexgrid seat.
VR HEXGRID Seat
Whether you are an officer on patrol, a civilian commuting to work, riding some overland trail, bumming around in an RV or simply need a way to effectively store and organize essential gear to keep you safe and comfortable; you will want to take a look at this. The HEXGRID seat platform is a modular, multi-angle load bearing platform.
It rides on the back of your vehicle's seat(s) and resembles a hexagonal net which can accept panels to arrange your gear. The HEXGRID Seat is a vehicle ready seat panel multi-angle load bearing platform for accessory arrangement and modular pouch management. The panel features a full loop face and provides placement for an assortment of hook and loop and Gear Set attachments. First aid kits, firearms, magazine pouches, tools and whatever else you would need to have in the vehicle can be stored and quickly accessed for when you need them most,
The problem with a setup like this is that it could leave these contents vulnerable to thievery if the owner is not present. The folks at 5.11 Tactical anticipated that and included a mesh storage unit, so that the entire unit can be removed and stowed in a trunk if necessary.
An adjustable headrest strap and removable straps make sure that the whole unit stays locked down and should minimize shift and flow of the items stored. There is a quick release padded seat wedge for secure attachment to either the front or rear of the driver or passenger seat. MSRP is $49.99.
VR Headrest
The optional VR Headrest has a loop face on the platform to provide for hook-side accessory attachment. You can attach a blow-out kit, small medical kit or pouches for accessories like a handheld light, multi-tool, or even spare magazines. Note how it attaches to the vehicle's head rest and if yours can work with it.
