Walther Q5 Match Steel Frame Pistol

For 2019, Walther is introducing the Q5 Match Steel Frame. This pistol seemed to be drawing a lot of attention at SHOT, so I decided to go over and check it out, and well… it's just sexy.

Built around Walter's PPQ platform, this pistol was built with the competitive shooter in mind. The Q5 Match SF features all steel construction and an optic ready slide with LPA competition iron sights and mounting plates fitted for most of the popular optic brands. Slide serrations were added in both front and rear, the slide was given a non-slip surface, and the slide stop has been extended for easy operation while wearing gloves.

The mag release is positioned for easy thumb operation, and can be moved for right or left-handed operation. The grip features a textured, wrap around grip panel for a superior, non-slip grip. The Tenifer coating on the slide and barrel resists corrosion and gives it an attractive finish to boot. The Q5 Match SF features two drop safeties and a firing pin block for safe carry.

I was able to dry fire it, and the 5.6 lbs trigger pull was smooth and crisp. The Q5 Match SF has a .4-inch trigger travel and a .1-inch reset. Additionally, it has a ported slide to reduce weight and allow for barrel cooling. With fiber optic front sights and adjustable rear sights, this pistol is the complete package. The Q5 Match SF is available in its base model as well as a Pro model which has minimal differences in height and weight, and has a mag capacity of 17 rounds, versus 15 rounds in the standard model.
