ZRODelta brings a sleek new brake to rifle shooters, officially launching the GEN 2 Cowl Induction Brake, or CIB.
The GEN 2 CIB’s design is crafted in such a way as to redirect potential energy from high pressure gases exiting the barrel; therefore reducing felt recoil. According to ZRODelta, the patented internal geometry of the CIB reduces recoil up to 72 percent.
ZRODelta says the GEN 2 set-up flaunts an additional 10-percent recoil reduction over its GEN 1 compadre, all the while lessening both weight and overall size. In total, the GEN 2 CIB touts a 2.86-inch length on a 4140 alloy steel body and weighs 0.35-ounces. Rounding out the dimensions, the CIB delivers a tapered design with the outer diameter on the device measuring 0.88-inches on the thread end while the exit end comes in at 0.99-inches.The GEN 2 CIB’s measurements creeping in under the 1-inch mark means the brake is 3-Gun competition legal.
Looks wise, the CIB is a sleek, boasting a matte black nitride coating with Cerakote colors available if you need some additional flare. Though the tapered ports were crafted to offer a stylish look, the horizontal ports also add some functionality according to the company. ZRODelta says those ports act to “minimize ground signature” keeping debris off of shooters.
ZRODelta says the success on the original CIB ultimately drove the company to consider a round two.
“After realizing such great results with the original CIB, I knew we had a lot of work ahead of us to create what is now the GEN 2 CIB,” said Lead Designer Mark Deros. “The tapered, streamline outer dimension combined with the refined internal geometry, really takes the CIB to a whole new level.”
With flats to allow attachments to barrels utilizing standard wrenches, the GEN 2 CIB launches with compatibility for .223/5.56, 6.5mm, and .30cal. Priced at just under $200, the CIB is available now from ZRODelta.
