5.11 Limited Edition MultiCam Black Boxpack Now Available

5.11 Tactical has advised they're releasing a limited edition version of their Covert Boxpack. The new load carriage option will be available in MultiCam Black and will retail for $119.99. Like its more conventionally colored predecessor, the limited edition version is a roll-top design intended for inclement weather (though obviously suitable for everyday use). It has a slide-adjusting sternum strap , reinforced shoulder straps (which are comfortably padded, if the Covert model is any example), and dual side zip pockets. The primary carry compartment is Tac-Tec compatible (Tac-Tec is their hook-and-loop/PALS modularity platform) with roll-top closure and an outer back pocket to carry a handgun, magazines, etc. There is another zippered pocket on the bottom for additional compartmentalized carry.

Here's how 5.11 articulates all the features:

How does it compare to other packs in the 5.11 lineup? Unknown. It's almost certainly good to go for its intended purpose, but I find it hard to believe it could replace the Covert 18 (COVRT18) in my affections. That's likely the best pack 5.11 has ever made — my older boy is still using my original COVRT18, and that thing is at least 5 years old (with some pretty tough mileage).
