Victory Defense Consulting (which has a “radio show” worth listening to, if you were not aware of it) is hosting the Colorado Freedom Shoot at the end of the month in Briggsdale, CO. Given the recent legislation passed and inanity exhibited by the Colorado state legislature, this may very well be the last high capacity competition ever held in the Centennial State (though the argument could be made it should be called a ‘standard capacity competition’, but the distinction would probably be lost upon those politicians).
The Colorado Freedom Shoot will include loot and prizes (including those dreadful high capacity assault magazines) and will introduce the host’s new dedicated 1,000+ long range engagement rifle range. There will also be a “Biden Challenge”, which may be the best thing we’ve heard of yet. In addition to the various competitions, the host range (Pawnee Sportsman Center) and sponsors – including MagPul, White Raven Communications, Executive Security International and others – will have high capacity magazine rentals. Skeet, trap and sporting clays will be available on site.
The competition schedule will include:
Saturday June 29th
Handgun Competitions: From the Concealed Carry, speed and accuracy drills ($50)
Speed Steel Challenge: 5rds/reload/5rds $5/Challenge
Carbine Competition: Defensive engagement using steel and paper ($50)
Long Range Competition: Mission Key Card with Sequenced Engagement of known distance steel targets ($50)
The Biden Challenge: $25, weapon and ammunition included – follow the advice of VPOTUS and get a shotgun.
“MOD Armory Night Vision Shoot”: $25 weapon and ammunition included. Contestants will compete for a $1,000 gift certificate and other prizes by MOD Armory
.Weapons and ammunition are included. Note: equipment will be demonstrated for those who are not familiar with it.
Sunday June 30th
4 Person Team Event: $160/team. Each team will provide one shooter per competitive evolution; each evolution will be a blind challenge revealed to competitors only after the shooter has been selected. Events may include some or all of a selection of handguns, carbines and long range shooting platforms. Half of the entry fee goes to a cash purse for the winning team.
Prospective competitors should be forewarned that all weapon class shooting is limited and will be first come, first serve. There will be a $20 discount for those engaging in all three. All competitions will be using a “defensive shooting” theme, to include low round counts, mandatory movements and forced reloads. For further information on weapons, weapon configurations, accessories and most importantly how to sign up, check out the the Victory Defense training page
