NEW from Hi-Point comes the Hi-Point 995! A Hi-Point carbine chambered in 30 Super Carry, the first 30 SC carbine on the market! If you missed Federal’s big announcement last year, here is the bird’s eye overview for the .30 Super Carry. A rimless cartridge designed to compete against 9mm Luger and .380 ACP and optimized for self-defense. With a bullet diameter of only .313” (7.95mm) and an overall length of only 1.169” (29.7mm) .30 Super Carry is about 1mm smaller in diameter than 9mm while the same length overall. This translates to a slightly lighter-weight bullet moving faster. .30 SC shooting Federal HST self-defense rounds send a 100gr HST at about 1,250 FPS, roughly 100 FPS faster than a 9mm 124gr HST. A little math tells us that .30 SC is about 20 ft.lbf less energy. The upside? Easier to control cartridge, and (for most guns) more rounds in your magazine.Hi-Point’s new carbine features a 16.5” barrel, semi-auto action with a 10-round magazine. The stock and body of the rifle are skeletonized and made from polymer for a very lightweight rifle. Iron sights are a simple peep and post, but the 995 also features 1913 railing on the top rail for optics and on the bottom of the forend for accessories. The 995 also has a manual safety, a 1/2×28 threaded barrel, and an MSRP of only $359.
