In economic times like these, affording a new carry gun isn’t always easy. While some brands have raised prices in their latest generation of “perfect” polymer pistols, Springfield Armory is here finding ways to cut costs and pass those savings to you. Introducing the Echelon Alpha. Bottom line, this is 95% the same Echelon 4.0C people know and love, but with some minor changes to cut the MSRP by over $100. The biggest change is a recontouring of the slide to cut down on machine time. The Alpha still has front sarations for easy slide manipulation, but lacks some of the cosmetic curves that were for aesthetics. While the standard Echelons all ship with 2 magazines, the Alpha only ships with one 15-round magazine (or 10-round mags for CA and low-cap states). Alpha MSRP is reduced by over $100, sitting at only $599 ($649 down from $749 for the CA model). Saving money is always a good thing, and the changes made with the Echelon Alpha put money in your pocket without taking anything away from the pistol itself. While one less magazine isn’t ideal, extra mags are easy to find. Springfield has said that this is only the first in their Alpha line, so we expect to see either variants of the Echelon joining soon.
