Every once in a while we are offered opportunities to step up for one another. Whether we call each other brother, friend, or colleague, it's often not a question of if we want to help, but how. The goodwill of Americans, and Veterans, and competitive businesses has long broken the false narratives and bad stories crafted to harm our people. Certainly, there's no shortage of tragedy in this world, but the reality is that more often than not the generosity of people is hijacked by nefarious ulterior motives.
And so when stories like this come about, we are provided ample opportunity to act.
This isn't a story of a veteran who is down on his luck, who is trying to catch a break. This is the story of the family of Damian Clapper, who, after completing a successful career in the world of special operations, set down the trident and rifle to start his own business, LeadNav. Along the way, through trial and tribulation, his family has chosen to bear the responsibilities that come with both being the family of a SEAL, and a businessman. Amidst the challenges that 2020 has brought to small businesses, their 14-year-old son, Tripp Clapper, has been diagnosed with Lymphoma Cancer.
Friends of the family reached out to us to inform us of the Clapper's situation, and what is coming next. As Tripp is entering the second wave of a series of chemotherapy treatments, we have an opportunity to come together as a community to support them ourselves. A Go Fund Me was started only 18 hours ago, and already the industry is showing its generosity.
In these trying times, we have the opportunity to help the Clapper family. For more information, go to their Go Fund Me page here at Help Tripp Fight Cancer.
This fund was not started by the Clapper family, but by close personal and industry friends. Those responsible have put their skin in the game by making the first donations.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Godspeed to a fast recovery.
For those looking to make a donation. Here is the page. All Donations go directly to the Clapper family to pay for the travel and lodging expenses during recovery. For Tripp, this battle has just begun.
