We just received an email from Daniel Defense promoting the re-release of their DDM4v7 with M-LOK and noticed something different about the magazine inserted in the rifle.
Daniel Defense spokesman Thomas Carlson confirmed to RECOIL the company is releasing it's own rifle magazine. He says the company will have an official announcement in a couple of weeks.
This squares with DD's apparent long term strategy to ween themselves from the third-party suppliers of profit-rich polymer rifle parts. Once engineering and testing is complete and tooling is made, injection molded parts are inexpensive to produce. DD moves enough volume that the company's R&D costs will be made up fairy quickly. This move is the next logical step after the company began producing its own polymer grips and stocks.
