A New Bullpup has entered the chat. In service with Croatian forces since 2013, the VHS-2 has come to America in the form of the Springfield Armory Hellion. After taking on a series of quality of life improvements, the Hellion retains the form and function of a bullpup firearm, while integrating modern sensibilities, such as a threaded barrel and 2-position gas block for shooting suppressed.
The Springfield Armory Hellion can be swapped to either a left or right ejection pattern and takes AR-15 Pistol grips. The fore-end now accepts attachments via M-LOK, with a Picatinny rail running along the top for optics.
We got to shoot the VHS-2 in the Summer of 2021 with the Croatian Military, and get their opinion on the firearm. Deferential to bullpup firearms for their rifle-length barrel in a much shorter overall package, they have had some time to work out any bugs before we could get our hands on one.
Gracing the cover of RECOIL #59, our full review of the Springfield Hellion is out in the wild. More information can be found about the latest Croatian Sensation on RECOILtv.
