New from CZ comes the 457 Varmint Precision Chassis MTR in .22 LR but with a twist – a tighter and more accurate match-grade chamber.
CZ has been one of the huge names driving the precision .22 LR crazy in recent years and this is a fresh new offering that looks to take that even higher.
From small game to competition like NRL22, NRL22X, and Rimfire Precision Series the game of shooting .22 LR at long distances (as long as 400 yards at times) has pushed the boundaries of technology and compelled many manufacturers to offer better and more expensive options.
This new version of the 457 Varmint Precision MTR comes packed with features for long range shooting. From an adjustable stock and cheek riser to the cold hammer-forged barrel with 1/2×28 threads to an adjustable match-grade trigger, this is a rifle that is ready to go against the big boys.
While custom .22 LR match rifles can cost $3,000+ the 457 VPC MTR has an MSRP of only $1,225.
And to make sure the poors at the range know you’re flexing on them, the 457 VPC MTR takes a play from CZ’s line of premium pistols and has some orange accents to show that this is a special version of an already great rifle line.
All of that said, something kind of odd about this rifle is an 11mm dovetail for optics instead of the far more standard 1913 railing. While this is a very strange choice to make, it will be interesting to see how the market reacts to this.
