FN has big plans for their US-based facilities! In addition to the second location in Liberty, South Carolina, FN America has announced they will be investing $18 million dollars into the Columbia, SC facility also.
Work starting later this year with a planned completion date of Q2 2024, will add more than 40,000 square-feet of manufacturing and office space and create a Design Center of Excellence for new FN America R&D efforts.
“The record growth that our company has had these last several years has enabled us to invest in our South Carolina manufacturing footprint with our soon-to-be new facility in Liberty and now the expansion of our Columbia facility,” said Mark Cherpes, President and CEO for FN America, LLC. “We were established in Richland County more than 40 years ago to manufacture small arms for the U.S. Army, and we are proud to expand our capacity to support that sector of our business.”
For over 40 years, FN has been operating its production facility in Richland County, South Carolina, where it has successfully delivered more than 1 million small arms to the U.S. Department of Defense. The company was first established in the United States in 1979, and since 1981, it has been producing the M240 medium machine gun, which is a variation of the FN MAG-58, under contract to the U.S. Army.
At present, FN America has a workforce of over 600 employees who are dedicated to producing firearms, accessories, and other related products for the U.S. military, law enforcement agencies, and consumers. The company has fulfilled contracts for the M4A1, M16A4, M249 light machine gun, M240 medium machine gun, and FN SCAR, which are used by the U.S. military. Moreover, the company has also supplied the FN 509 striker-fired pistol series to law enforcement agencies like the Los Angeles Police Department and individual officers across the nation.
