When it’s time to invest in a new pair of boots, you want it to be just that– an investment, and not wasted money. Rest assured, you will find that the Garmont Nemesis boots are worth it.
No matter what these boots were put through, they held up and then some. After putting in some Superfeet Blue insoles (these are my go-to), I started by just wearing them around casually to make sure that they were broken in before I really put them to the test.
After working around the house, grocery shopping, and carting my boys from one ballgame to the next, and even to a PRS match, it was clear from the beginning that no major breaking in was needed. The Nemesis boots have a very casual look, so they are easy to wear around with a nice pair of jeans and t-shirt, they don't look out of place. As weird as it may sound, this is one of my favorite aspects of the boot, they effortlessly transition from work to play. But when it's time to work, the Nemesis is there.
I started by taking the boots for a run. First, on the pavement, and then on the trail. My feet got a tad warm, but it’s Summer in the south, after all, and these are Gore-Tex boots so this was completely expected. The ankle support was just enough, and the sole offered excellent traction both on the road and on the trail.
Next, it was time to play in the mud. Getting into some seriously thick mud was a non-issue. Not only did my feet stay dry, but these boots had no hang-ups, and I was able to walk through the mud with minimal effort. Eventually, I stepped off in some water where about half of the boots were submerged and for quite some time, and the result– dry feet.
The final test for the Nemesis boots was a ruck. I threw 40 lbs in my Mystery Ranch pack and hit the road. I covered about 6 miles, mostly on a paved road. Aside from the usual fatigue, I was comfortable, or as comfortable as you can be while rucking anyways. Most importantly, my feet weren't sore. There was no out of the ordinary soreness that would indicate a problem with my gait, no blisters, and no hot spots.
Overall, this boot exceeded my expectations.
The Nemesis boots are available in the 4.0 and 6.0 and are also available in two different colors: black and coyote.
