Go Learn, NW Arkansas: Daryl Holland at Lonesome Oak Guns & Range

Former Special Mission Unit firearms trainer Daryl Holland (seen above in a photo from the inimitable Q Concepts) is going to be in NW Arkansas in September. He'll be teaching 2 separate one-day, all-day Intermediate Pistol classes. Have a concealed carry and want to work on your marksmanship, ability to manipulate the weapon and solve problems under stress? Seems like someone who spent 17 years of a 20+ year career in Special Operations Forces might be a good dude to learn from.

Note that you'll want to be serious about being a student; if you're willing to set ego aside, listen and learn you will go home much better prepared for a gunfight.

The classes will be held 26 and 27 September; you can enroll in one or both. They'll be at the Lonesome Oak Guns and Range in Centerton, which is right outside of Rogers, AR (and within driving distance of Eureka Springs).

Note that the Lonesome Oak website is currently being modified so you can't enroll there. ‘Til it comes back up, send them a message on their Facebook page (see below) or just show up the day of. Cost is $200; $350 if you want to do the course both days (reminder: this is the same class run 2 days in a row). You'll need 300 rounds of ammunition, eyes & ears, a good quality holster, etc. You know the drill.
Holland is a retired US Army Sergeant Major who has been a part of hundreds of combat missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, the Philippines and on the Mexican border. He spent over half his career in sniper billets, both in the 82nd Airborne and Unit squadrons. During his 12 years with an SMU he served as an assaulter, sniper, assault team leader, assistant sniper team leader and perhaps most significantly when it comes to his ability to teach, an OTC instructor. Only a handful of men in the world can say that.

You can find Lonesome Oak range on Facebook right here. If you stick around afterward or come in early you can go stand on the site of the very first Wal-Mart store ever, or visit the Daisy Outdoor Products Air Rifle Museum.
