NRA Annual Meetings 2018

Juliet Lima Dagger from VZ Grips

G10 scales have been used as knife grip scales since forever, and we've seen the material used to make spartan, denied-area carry knives before. But, the guys at VZ Grips went all-in with the graphite-based material and carved a full-size knife, blade, grips and all, out of the stuff.

VZ has a collection of low-detectability blades made from G10 and carbon fiber, but the Eagle Claw is a limited edition offering that mates jet black G10 scales to the full-tang, black desert sand G10 blade grip using metallic screws that will likely make the Juliet pop when passing through security checkpoints.

The OSS dagger-shaped blade we saw on display during the NRA Annual Convention is just over a 1/4-inch thick with aggressive serrations that make quick work of fiberous material.

VZ has been working with G10 long enough to know its limitations, and judging from the videos the company shared with us showing the blade sawing through recently deceased hog hide, our concerns about the brittleness of the material used as a knife blade are unfounded. Use it well, treat it right, and it'll be around for a long time; VZ says the blade can be sharpened by hitting it with some fine-grade sandpaper. Just don't try to pry with it. You can guess how that will turn out.

As fun as this tool might be in the field, we're pretty sure most are destined to serve as letter-opening conversation starters for centurions-turned-bureaucrats rebelling against their fluorescent-lit existence.

The $160 Juliet Lima “Just the Tip” special edition isn't listed on VZ's website. The only way to spear one is to email sales@vzgrips.com.
