Magpul’s New D50 Magazine Provides 50 Rounds of 7.62 Quickly and Concisely

When Magpul released its D-60 drum mag, it was greeted eagerly by guys that needed 60 rounds of 5.56 NATO on tap, but those that run battle rifles were left wistfully holding their 20- and 30-rounders. Magpul's a thoughtful battlefield enabler, though, and it just let us know it's releasing a 7.62×51 NATO version of the drum mag, calling it the D50.

The D50 carries 50 rounds of 7.62 and employs the same ratcheting loading lever system found on its little brother that makes stuffing the ammo-hungry drums pretty easy.

Magpul says the D50 is designed exclusively for 7.62×51 NATO and .308 Winchester, advising against running it with 6.5 Creedmoor, .250 Remington, and the like. The magazine is priced at $150, and you can read Magpul's release, below, for the rest of the bullet points.

The Magpul PMAG D-50 is a rugged, lightweight, and reliable 50-round polymer drum magazine designed for 7.62×51 NATO/.308 Winchester ammunition for SR25/M110 pattern rifles. At approximately 1.5 lbs. empty, and 4.5 lbs. loaded, the Magpul D-50 is one of the lightest 50-round 7.62×51/.308 drums available and is priced well below current competition. Designed specifically for 7.62×51 NATO/.308 Winchester ammunition and use with other calibers such as .260 Remington or 6.5 Creedmoor is not recommended.
