In this installment of RECOILTv’s Full Auto Friday, we ride the lightning on an absurdly small package, that lets off so many pews. The Micro Uzi is perfectly named, packing a spray of lethality in the most compact of packages, and is capable of unleashing a devastating wave of rounds. The Uzi and its name come from a storied line as far back as the late 1940s, when the original Uzi was created by Major Uziel Gal of the Israel Defense Forces with the Mini Uzi (falling somewhere between the full-size Uzi and the Micro Uzi in size) coming along in 1980. Over the years, despite shrinking in size, the overall design of the Uzi has remained the same, and all sizes of the Uzi accept the same (traditionally 32-round) mags.
Coincidentally, as the Uzi has decreased in size over the years, its rate of fire has increased. A closed bolt variant, the Micro Uzi has a rate of fire of about 1250 rounds per minute, compared to a full-size Uzi which fires at a rate of about 600 rounds per minute. With the ability to use a foldable stock, the Micro Uzi can be tamed quite a bit, but how does it fare in the palm of your hand? Tag along with RECOIL’s Dave Merrill, and VERTX’s Dave Rhoden as they try and tame this little beast and take us over the rainbow.
