New Thermal Goodness Now Available from FLIR

Published by

The name FLIR is synonymous with thermal imaging. At SHOT Show they announced several new products, including two thermal rifles scopes and one exceptionally affordable thermal monocular. And now they're available. It wasn't too terribly long ago that anything thermal cost as much as a decent new car, but now you can nab something totally usable for about the same price as a PVS-14. The latest example is the new Breach PTQ136.

Per FLIR:

The new FLIR Breach PTQ136 multifunctional thermal monocular is built with hunters and tactical professionals in mind. At only 7.4oz, it is the lightest and most compact full-featured FLIR thermal monocular available. FLIR Breach can be concealed in a pocket or be mounted to a helmet with its mini-rail feature. Powered by the compact, 12-micron FLIR BosonTM core, FLIR Breach delivers crisp images, onboard recording and seven palettes to give a tactical advantage via fast detection of suspects or evidence, day and night.

The rugged and versatile FLIR Breach offers superior image performance, producing a vivid 1280×960 viewing resolution on the FLCOD HD display. Additional innovative features include internal recording and storage of up to 2.5 hours of video and 1,000 still images, built-in digital compass and inclinometer, and a versatile USB-C port for external power, digital video out and connection to peripheral devices.

The FLIR Breach mini thermal monocular starts at $2,495

And of course we also mentioned scopes. For nighttime hunting, a good thermal pays out dividends rather quickly. Here's the scoop:

FLIR ThermoSight Pro PTS536 and PTS736

Both new FLIR ThermoSight Pro models are powered by FLIR’s high-performance 12-micron pixel pitch FLIR Boson™ thermal camera core, which delivers smaller, lighter optics with increased image performance and range. Featuring industry-leading on-chip video processing and an uncompressed video signal fed directly to a bright, high-definition 1280 x 960 FLCOS display, the FLIR ThermoSight Pro Series offers improved object detection and classification in the field and clean thermal imagery in any light – from low contrast daylight to total darkness – or through smoke, haze and light fog. Both new ThermoSight Pro models offer 60Hz video refresh rates, 320×256 thermal resolution, USB-C connectivity, user-controlled imaging palettes, image enhancement filters, and built-in digital compass and inclinometer. Shot-activated onboard recording allows for the internal storage of up to two-and-a-half hours of video or 1,000 JPEG images. ThermoSight Pro models also feature multiple reticle and thermal palette options and crisp iconology and graphic overlays over virtually all backgrounds.
