Belts are one piece of clothing I never really spend any money on. The belt I've been wearing with jeans is a terrible pleather belt I got at Wal-Mart. When a holster is on the belt it sags and it's starting to fall apart, so I figured it was time for an upgrade.
I was looking through Kickstarter and came upon the Quicky (no, not the kind of quicky you have on a lunch break). The Quicky is dubbed as a “Magnetic Tactical Belt”. While I disagree with calling it a Tactical Belt, the premise of this seemed unique. I didn’t want a riggers belt or something with a giant Cobra buckle to wear around town. The less I look like I am in the military the better. However I am a sucker for gadgets — all the more so if they're functional and effective.
The Quicky works by the two halves of the buckle having magnets in them.
When they get close the opposite poles of the magnet cause the belt to snap together and lock. In the video below they show how it operates and even show them hoisting a motorcycle with it.
maxwidth=670The Kickstarter ends this month and can be found here Quicky Magnetic Tactical Belt (lots more information there and worth checking). I ordered a belt with a black buckle, black magnet and Biothane strap; you should thinking of getting one of your own. They even have a carbon fiber option for those who love advanced composites.
