Meprolight R4E Optimized Duty Sight

Meprolight, a part of The Mako Group, has been gleefully offering a trade-in option to EOTech owners since word of the latter company's troubles first began circulating. That didn't keep them from continuing to bring new products to the market, however, which is no doubt why we recently received word of the R4E Optimized Duty Sight. The ODS, currently available for Glock pistols only, is described as a tritium powered duty sight that will (they advise) improve “…first-round hit probability.” They are available with green, orange or a mix of green-and-orange illumination on front and rear sights.

Here's a little more on the R4E Optimized Duty Sight from Meprolight.

The Optimized Duty Sight features five key elements for sight alignment. The rear sight features two horizontal lines and one vertical line, which line up with the vertical line and tritium dot on the front sight. The additional lines of the ODS design create a reticle effect and cause the eye to naturally focus on the front sight, which is critical in defensive shooting situations. The design leads the eye to focus faster by tapping into your intuition.

In addition to intuitively sighting in, the ODS performs in daylight, low light or nighttime conditions without the use of batteries. The self-powered tritium sights are designed with reverse angles that allow shooters to “bite” into belts, steering wheels or any edge for racking the slide, if needed.

According to the manufacturer the R4E Optimized Duty Sight was designed in collaboration with 2 Special Forces soldiers, each having “…years of experience in counter-terrorism units and instruction at the most elite special ops schools in the military…” Nothing more specific was offered and we don't know when/where these SOF soldiers served or what specifically they brought from their experience to the design table.

Learn more or purchase on here. They retail for $158.85.

The Mako Group also contains Front Line Holsters, FAB Defense, E-Lander Mags and RTS Targets. They are based in Israel.
