Remington and Timney Announce New Partnership: All New R700 Rifles Will Have Timney Triggers

NEW REMINGTON, NEW TRIGGERS

The Remington 700 was once America’s Rifle, but with new owners and new staff, the Remington of today doesn’t have a lot in common with the Remington of old.

While many factors lead to the downfall of Remington, their triggers played no small role in the eventual demise. For over two decades, accusations of the Remington 700 trigger being unsafe have run rampant and resulted in at least 75 lawsuits.

Settling these lawsuits was one of the last major acts before Remington went bankrupt and was bought by Roundhill Group LLC in 2020.

Today, the new Remington company has taken a major step forward in fixing some of the sins of their past – they will no longer be making the trigger on their rifles. Instead, Timney will.

Timney has been in the trigger game since 1946 and has been well-known as one of the best in the business. With triggers for almost every make and model of rifle you can think of, Timney is an absolutely perfect partner to bring in.

Standard models of the R700 will be fitted with the new Timney Impact 700 Trigger, while the Alpha 1 and Police models will come with the Elite Hunter trigger. The Alpha 1 will feature a straight trigger, and the Police will have a curved trigger.

The new Impact 700 Trigger will have a set, non-adjustable pull weight of 3-4 pounds and feature Timney’s Sear Engagement Adjustment Lock design (SEAL’d) to deliver a crisp break.

Timney also offers the new Impact trigger as a standalone upgrade, MSRP of $125.

“Starting today, all Remington Model 700 rifles will come standard with Timney Triggers. The Alpha 1 and Police will come with the Elite Hunter trigger, and all other Model 700s will have the new Impact 700 trigger. Timney was asked to build a replacement Remington Model 700 trigger that does not compromise on quality.  Timney listened. Timney delivered.“
