Late in the month of January, Jonathan Rubio of West Texas Ordnance was in a terrible automobile accident. Extracted from the vehicle in critical condition, it would the better part of a month and multiple surgeries later before this young father was able to even leave his hospital room.
Many companies would just put condolences on their Facebook page. Others might start a GoFundMe. But not West Texas Ordnance (you may recall them from a previous edition of Friday Night Gun Porn). They got together with a host of other companies to do something special–put together a baller rifle package, and raffle it all off. All proceeds will go to the Rubio family to help pay for hospital bills and lost work due to the accident.
Oh yes, we said this was a “rifle package”–not just a rifle. A rifle, scope, case of match ammunition, suppressor with a match serial number, a shooting course–and more.
Even though our industry has expanded rapidly over the last decade, some parts of it remain tightly woven together. Sponsors include Dead Air Armament, Seraph Arms, West Texas Ordnance, Manners Stocks, Butch's Reloading, Blast Tamer Brakes, Turkey Creek Ranch, Taylor Custom Metalworks, Silence is Golden, BullWorx, Texas Custom Rifles, Prime Ammunition, and Hawkins Precision.
Here's the package:
- WTO built 22” 6.5 Creedmoor on their Claymore HD action and Timney 517 “flat shoe” trigger set at 1.5lb
- Manners T4A stock in Elite Tactical GAP camo with mini chassis and included magazines
- NightForce BEAST scope
- Dead Air Sandman Ti 30cal suppressor with matched serial number
- Atlas Bipod & Short Action Precision spare velcro 2 round holder
- Pelican 1750 Padded Hard Case
- 1 Case of Prime 6.5 Creedmoor Ammunition
- Magnetospeed V3 Chronograph
- Weibad padded cheek cushion, Rifle Sling, and rear support bag
- Sig Sauer Kilo Range Finder
- CenterShot muzzle brake
- AR500 Targets with stand and Hitch cover
- Write in the Rain kit (write in the rain pen and paper)
- 2 Hour Intro to Precision Rifle Shooting class by Ballistic Technologies in Lubbock Texas
Raffle tickets for your chance to win are $100, with a limit of 300 to be issued. A 1/300 chance is a helluva lot better odds than the PowerBall tickets you bought a couple weeks ago–and the money is going to a better place too. The drawing will be July 30th, 2016, during the AMPC Jonathan Rubio Benefit shooting match & silent auction, held at the AMPC range in Midland Texas. You DO NOT have to be present to win.
To purchase tickets, please contact either Matt Moore at 432.425.8901 or West Texas Ordnance at 432.312.6132 or texasordnance@hotmail.com
But there's actually more. It's a White Tail Hunt Raffle, also with all proceeds going directly to the Rubio family. With 100 tickets being issued at $25 each.
Here's what they have to say about it:
Included in this raffle is a white tail buck hunt, for the 2016 season, provided by Turkey Creek Ranch, located in Dewey County, Oklahoma.
The hunt will be for a White Tail Buck of the Hunters Choice
Hunter provides their Lodging and tag.
Drawing will be held along side the custom rifle drawing on July 30th, 2016 during the Benefit long range rifle match being held in Midland Texas at the AMPC range. Ticket holders need not be present to win. The winner will be contacted through provided contact information.
There are a total of 100 tickets valued at $25 a piece. You may contact Matt Moore at 432.425.8901, West Texas Ordnance at 432.312.6132 or Jonathan Rubio through his Facebook page. Cash/Check or Paypal only, stubs can be mailed to non local participants.
Of course, if you don't want to enter and still want to a way to help out, a GoFundMe page was started by a friend of the family. You can visit that link here.
