Ever checked into a hotel with a rifle bag that is made entirely of PALS webbing? I have. It can be an incredibly uncomfortable experience in some parts of the country. The Sentinel Concepts C.A.R.B from Tuff Products was designed by Steve “Yeti” Fisher to avoid those awkward stares when in public with your cased rifle.
The Sentinel Concepts C.A.R.B. is initially being offered in eight to ten colors, and further production runs will have a reduced color pallet based on what colors are preferred by customers. I got a chance to look at a bright red bag that looked a lot like an elongated pizza bag and a black bag that could easily pass for a keyboard bag.
The bag has one large outer pocket that is lined on one side with loop material allowing you to mount any number of things that use a hook type attachment. The build quality of the C.A.R.B. is pretty dang stellar and the bag also features lockable zippers.
Opening the main compartment of the C.A.R.B. you get a large pocket that will accept two lower receivers or a crap ton of magazines.
The bottom of the C.A.R.B. is entirely loop material just like that front pocket we looked at first allowing you to set up your bag as you prefer. The C.A.R.B. is designed to carry your rifle broken down, but you could conceivably fit an SBR in the case without breaking the rifle down.
I asked Steve do some modeling of the C.A.R.B.to give you an idea how slim it is when everything is all zipped up.
Now if you happen to need more room for a large scope or you just want to pack all the things into your bag, the C.A.R.B. has a zipper all the way around the perimeter of the bag that allows it to expand two additional inches.
Now, why am I showing you the back of the bag with a random zipper on it? The C.A.R.B. has two stowable pack straps that are easy to remove and hide– should you not need them.
You can configure the strap like a sling bag if you want to do the trendy messenger bag thing.
You can also set the bag up with a more traditional strap setup. Tuff Products uses their easy to remove buckles on both the top and bottom of the straps so if you want to remove them all together you can do so or you can stow them in case you might need the straps to free up a hand.
The C.A.R.B. also features a movable divider that can be adjusted to your needs or removed entirely.
The straps are lined with a non-slip material, so you don't have to fight the straps when walking longer distances.
The Sentinal Concepts C.A.R.B. is still so new that Tuff Products hasn't yet added it to their website. MSRP will be $149 once they are added to the Tuff website in the next few weeks.
There is a ton of other gear on the Tuff Products website that Steve Fisher had a hand in that you can order now like his A.R.B. (Another Range Bag) or the JIC TQ pouch (Just In Case Tourniquet pouch).
