Seventy Calibers in a Can: The Liberty Cosmic

Published by

If you've heard of Liberty Suppressors, then no doubt you're familiar with the Mystic X. We covered the Mystic X extensively in issue 18 (read the preview here) and then got some further hands on while down in Georgia earlier this year. TL;DR: The Mystic X is a veritable Swiss Army knife suppressor that will take 60 different calibers.

But now Liberty appears to have outdone themselves. Officially launching today, their latest and greatest is named the Cosmic.

Cosmic on the left, Mystic X on the right

What is the Cosmic? All of the same calibers as the Mystic X (an encompassing list can be found here), plus:

  • 454 Casull
  • 45 Long Colt
  • 45 ACP
  • 45 GAP
  • 44 Remington MAG
  • 44 Special
  • 41 Remington MAG
  • 41 Action Express
  • 10mm Magnum
  • 10mm Auto
  • .400 corbon
  • 458 SOCOM
  • 450 Bushmaster

We're advised that while the suppressor will handle 458 SOCOM and 450 Bushmaster that they won't be hearing safe by OSHA standards (no surprises there).

A couple of weeks ago at the Texas Firearms Festival we got an exclusive sneak peak. So here's a look at the guts of it all.

The Cosmic is most definitely based on the Mystic X, and that's a Good Thing. The Cosmic is backwards compatible with all of the Mystic accessories. Same fixed barrel adapters. Same boosters. All of the same specialty muzzle mounts. The size is the same at 8”, and the Cosmic is actually an ounce lighter at only 9.5oz.

With all of the different adapters available you can find a way to put a Cosmic on damn near anything. Put it on an AR in all sorts of different calibers. Put it on an AK. A Glock. An Uzi—you get the idea.

While the official name may be the Cosmic, We're already calling it what it should be: The Mystic Eleven. Because it's the Mystic X, turned up to eleven.

There's already one en route. So you can expect it will have a ton of different ammo put through it via a plethora of platforms. In very short order.

Stay tuned.
