It means hitman or assassin in Mexico and it's the name of an upcoming movie starring Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, Josh Brolin, Jon Bernthal and Jeffrey Donovan. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, the film is centered on FBI agent Kate Macer (Blunt) whose job takes her into Mexico alongside a CIA agent (probably a Special Activities paramilitary) played by Brolin and a “consultant” of uncertain provenance named Alejandro (Del Torio).
Looks gritty and action packed, and at first glance the gear and weapon handling seem to be done pretty well — though one can't help but wonder why anyone in these movies bothers having eye-pro if they're not going to wear it over their eyes.
It will be interesting to see how the film treats the failed state on our southern border, where violence more typically associated with groups like ISIS and Boko Haram occurs every day within rock-throwing distance of United States cities.
Don't believe it's a failed state? Think reports of the violence are exaggerated? Spend a little while reading Borderland Beat.
