Steyr Arms Offering Modular Optics Integration with New AUG A3 M1

Steyr Arms made a big splash this year by introducing their short-stroke gas piston AUG A3 Bullpup rifle to the U.S. Market. They have now expanded on this offering with the AUG A3 M1 Variant out of their Bessemer, Alabama facilities, which will start shipping throughout the country with a Short-Rail, High-Rail, and Integrated-Optic version. The new M1 Variant offers the ability to attach a wide range of optics utilizing a platform similar to the AUG A2.

Each of the three different rail and optics platforms for the AUG A3 M1 can be interchanged to meet your individual needs. The AUG A3 M1 High-Rail has 16 slots to attach many optics including red dot sights with a multiplier as well as high magnification scopes. Overall height is .820 inches above the stock comb and extends 2.57 inches from the receiver. The Short-Rail is the most simplistic option with the rail ending at the back of the receiver and rising up just .435” above the stock comb allowing the shooter to integrate a wide range of mounts depending on the height needed for the optic.

In order to meet the market demands for a civilian version of the AUG SF Model, Steyr is also adding an Integrated Optics version for the AUG A3 M1. This will offer a top rail with 15 slots in two segments and an additional 4 slot rail on the right side. The scope tube is based on the original AUG offering a bright and clear optic with a 1.5x or 3x magnification. The 1.5x version has a medium crosshair within a heavy range-finding circle and the 3x version utilizes a medium crosshair with heavy circle and thin internal crosshair.

In addition to the various rail platforms Steyr Arms integrated a VLTOR QD Sling mount for dual or single point slings. They have also added an OD Green variant if you didn’t already have enough choices to consider.  The AUG A3 M1 will come complete with a translucent polymer 30 round magazine, and a cleaning kit that integrates into the buttstock. The bullpul starts at $2,099 for the short or high railed version. The Integrated-Optics versions are $2,499 and $2,599 for the respective 1.5x or 3x optics.
