Speed up your zero and then check it in any environment without live fire. How? SAC Kits, currently supplied to the US Army by Telluric Group, LLC.
Telluric Group, LLC. advises us they recently completed delivery of Small Arms Collimator (SAC) Kits to the US Army for inclusion in the Advanced Sniper Accessory Kit (ASAK). The SAC Kits, referred to by Big Army as Sniper Weapon Collimators (SWC), were designed for use with the M110 SASS (Semi-Automatic Sniper System) and the M2010 ESR (Enhanced Sniper Rifle). They'll also work with legacy M24 sniper rifles.
Two reason these collimators were chosen over others: they speed up the process of zeroing a weapon and they allow the user to check their zero in any environment without using live-fire. According to Brian Garrett of Telluric Group “The SAC allows snipers to confirm zero quickly anytime, anywhere- before they leave the FOB [forwarding operating base], after movement across rough terrain, or even at their final firing position”. By accomplishing this, operator’s can enhance combat-effectiveness by being more confident with their weapon. The Small Arms Collimator is available for sniper weapons, assault rifles, grenade launchers, and machine guns. They also work with day and night optics or iron sights. Models are also available for IR and visible laser aiming devices as well as thermal weapons.
The Collimators’ manufacturer is British company Pyser-SGI Limited, which has been around for over a century. Telluric Group is a “distributor” (for lack of a better term) that provides things like protective services to NGOs, individual clients and government organizations. It also supplies specialized equipment to the US military and training to law enforcement. They are headquartered out of Jacksonville Florida, have a training facility in Brunswick Georgia, and a field office in Kampala Uganda. You don't have to go to Florida, Georgia or Uganda though.
