Trijicon MRO: Miniature Rifle Optic

Rumor control (rumour, if you spell it like our boss) has been spinning at top speed lately with images and possible specs of a new Trijicon optic, news of which was apparently leaked Monday. Rumors are true – Trijicon Inc. is launching the new Minitature Rifle Optic, which they describe as,

“…a red-dot sight tough enough for combat, the mean streets of law enforcement, competition shooting or hunting in the harshest of environments. Light and rugged, the Trijicon MRO mounts easily, zeros quickly and adapts to almost any shooting scenario.”

A large objective lens and short optical length is intended to mitigate or even eliminate the “tube effect” common to many red dots. It features a 2 MOA dot with 8 brightness settings (including 2 that are NVG compatible) and one bright setting for use with WMLs or in very bright outdoor conditions. Trijicon says you'll get 5 years (yeah, five) at day setting from one LED 20132 battery. Adjustments are 1/2 MOA with 70 MOA total travel allowed, and adjustment can be made without tools. Windage and elevation can apparently be manipulated with something as simple as the rim of a 5.56mm casing. Brightness control on top is amidextrous and the MRO itself is parallax free; the objective lens is 25mm. It's 2.6 in. long and weighs 4.1 oz. with battery (does not count mount).

The 8 total settings are: NV1, NV2, Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, and Day 6/Super-Bright.

Says Trijicon,

“Trijicon engineers built—and tested—the MRO to operate in temperatures ranging from -60F to +160F. Waterproof to 100 feet, chemical and corrosion resistant, and housed in 7075-T6 Aluminum, the MRO can withstand the rigors of combat, sub-zero mornings on an ice-encrusted hunting stand or bouncing between stages during a competitive shooting event.”

The Trijicon entry into the compact electronic red dot market will MSRP at $579 by itself, $629 with mount; it will certainly look nice in your safe (and on the range) next to your ACOG and Accupoint.
